Gilded Hearts Valentine’s Card

Lovely greetings, crafty friends! Valentine’s day is filling the air with love and hearts, and so I thought it would just be fitting to have a card to celebrate the occasion. I decided to go with stamps and dies by Pretty Pink Posh today and to join the festivities over at Pretty Pink Posh:

I got inspired by the card on the very left – I just love the idea of the little windows that show something underneath. In my case, I decided to keep it clean and simple.

I wanted to keep the card design overall very clean and simple to make the colors in my little round windows pop. It’s amazing that blending pink and red distress ink together looks so lovely, who’d have thought? And the little kraft mat behind my front panel is just perfect to set it off against the white card base, but without distracting at all.

You could stamp the little hearts with gold pigment ink, or heat emboss them with embossing powder. I decided to break out my gilding flakes again since I hadn’t used them in ages and I wanted the texture that only gilding can give you. It’s a bit messy and an exercise in not-breathing (as exhaling can cause your flakes to fly around the room), but I love the results:

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the project! I’m sending off this project to Addicted To Stamps and More “CAS”; The Card Concept “Sweet Hearts”; Stempelküche “Love is All Around”.
